Dr. Detwiler grew up in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1979 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He received his Medical Doctorate degree in 1983 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He completed his Neurosurgery residency in 1989 from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. Detwiler is trained in all areas of Neurosurgery with specific emphasis on brain tumors and disorders of the craniovertebral junction.
Dr. Detwiler began private practice in 1989 at Neurosurgery Specialists as a general neurosurgeon. He provides care to those patients experiencing problems with the brain, the spine, and peripheral nerves such as carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve disorders.
